Honey Bunch will not allow children to attend school if: 

 

  • A child has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher. The child must remain at home until fever free for 24 hours (without any fever reducer) before returning to Honey Bunch. 

 

  • A child with impetigo must stay home and can return to school after being on antibiotics for 24 hours.

 

  • Conjunctivitis: child can return after being on eye ointment for 24 hours and all the discharge from the eye or eyes is cleared up. We do not accept doctor notes that state it is a “viral infection” and the child can come in to school. The child will have to stay at home then until the eye infection is cleared up. 

 

  • A child has two bouts of diarrhea in one day (foul smell and not contained in the diaper).The child can return to Honey Bunch when stools are back to normal after 24 hours.

 

  • A child with vomiting symptoms is to remain home for 24 hours after symptoms have stopped.

 

  • A child with strep-throat (as confirmed by a throat culture) must stay home and be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning.

 

  • Ear infection: a child may attend school with these symptoms if a note from the pediatrician is provided and if the child is in good spirits. 

 

  • Scarlet fever, Chicken Pox, Coxsackie, Ringworm, Roseola, Flu: a child with these symptoms must stay home and can return to school when symptoms are completely cleared up after seven full days. If lesions are not scabbed over or gone after seven days, the child may still not return to Honey Bunch. 

 

  • Head lice, scabies, or bed bugs - a child must stay home and return once lice, bugs, scabies, and nits are gone. Once bed bugs are confirmed to no longer be in the home, the child can return to school. (ATTN: This has never happened at Honey Bunch only including it as a precaution.) 

 

  • A child has a past due vaccination unless the appointment for the vaccination has been scheduled. 

 

- Parent’s of children displaying any symptoms of illness will be called to pick up their child within an hour of the call. Please have a back up contact available to do pick up if you are more than an hour away from Honey Bunch. You or an authorized contact should always be available by phone. 

 

- Siblings at HB of children with communicable diseases must also stay at home until the sick child is able to come back to Honey Bunch in good health. If a family member at home has a communicable disease, please use your best judgement before sending your child into school.

 

- We do not administer any type of medication, prescription or over the counter meds with the exception of epinephrine auto injectors, asthma inhalers and nebulizers.

 

- Over-the-counter topical ointments, lotions and creams, sprays, including sunscreen products and topically applied insect repellant are allowed with a parent’s consent and signature. 

 

- Teachers will increase cleaning in the classroom if a common illness is present at Honey Bunch.
